Add a SMART Disk Monitor

Add a SMART Disk monitor to get status of your hard disk, set thresholds and be notified on potential hardware disk failures, and use IT automation tools to auto-resolve performance issues.

The SMART Disk monitoring by Site24x7 uses the Linux monitoring agent to collect performance data from your servers. Ensure you have the Linux agent version 17.4.5 and above to use this feature. You can also monitor multiple SMART disks with a single Linux agent.

Prerequisite: smartmontools should be installed in your server to use this feature.

Supported Vendors: SEAGATE, TOSHIBA

Add a SMART Disk Monitor

  1. Log in to Site24x7 and go to Server > SMART Disk (+). You can also navigate via Admin > Inventory > Add Monitor > Application Server Monitoring > SMART Disk.
  2. Click on Copy to Clipboard and execute the command given in the Site24x7 web client.

Once the command is successfully executed, the Linux agent will be installed in the server and the agent will auto-discover and add the SMART Disk for monitoring. You will be able to see the monitor under Server > SMART Disk. You can associate configuration profiles (threshold, notification, resource check profiles) while executing the command itself. Add a Threshold and Availability Profile

Once the SMART Disk monitor is successfully added to your Site24x7 account, add a threshold and availability profile to help the alarms engine decide if a specific resource has to be declared critical or down. Learn more.

Licensing

One SMART Disk monitor uses up one basic monitor license.
